Effect of Drainage Channels on Vegetation Diversity of Tropical Peatswamp Forest of Sebangau National Park, Indonesia

Peat swamp forests are playing important role in climate change by carbon storage, biodiversity conservation, and crucial local livelihoods. The construction of drainage channels Sebangau National Park, Indonesia negatively affects the Peatland ecosystem degrades vegetation diversity. This research aims to study composition diversity secondary peat Park (SNP), especially around large small channels. For observation diversity, each block consisted 3 transects that were 300 m apart from other, perpendicular channel. observations on channel blocks, made continue previous transect at a distance 500 end On transect, 5 plots using plot line method with 50 between plot. Observations growth rate seedlings 2m x plot, poles 5m saplings 10m trees 20m results showed Shorea spp., Combretocarpus rotundatus, Cratoxylum arborencens, Calophyllum sp. dominant plant species area. Overall 92 reported Large Drainage Channel 86 Small block. Further, Species Diversity ranged 1.43 - 1.57 while Richness 16.80 – 23.03, Evenness Index 0.83 0.92 all levels growth. Results can be concluded dimensions do not have any effect number, index, richness, evenness Similarity seedlings, saplings, is more than 50%, tree level it was less 50%.
